Inspired by the Velasquez masterpiece Mars, I read a little more about the painting to learn that Mars had a sister, Bellona. Her role is to pinpoint areas of conflict by placing a spear on the earth, where the spear lands, you don't want to be there! You can also see that Mars plays a cameo role sitting at his sisters left shoulder.
